Ylang ylang oil is extracted from the yellow star shaped flower that grows on a Cananga tree using the steam distillation process. The sweet fruity and rich flowery aroma makes it a popular fragrance in perfumes, colognes, lotions, flavourings, soaps, etc. Though the usage is based on its intensities. For instance, Ylang Ylang extra produces the most powerful fragrance and is often used as a top note in perfumes like Channel number five.
